History of Grama Panchayat
Originally, this area was entirely a forest region inhabited solely by indigenous people who relied exclusively on the forest for their livelihood. Their only connection to the outside world was with the Nilambur Kovilakam, and the vast majority of them were dependents of the estate. After 1930, people arrived to harvest bamboo and fell trees for charcoal production; they began cultivating paddy in the fertile areas and established temporary settlements.
